The Essentials of Nurse Manager Orientation from AACN and AONE

Nurse managers need a wide range of strategic, financial, and personnel management skills to succeed in today's challenging healthcare environment.
Yet too often, nurse managers are not offered the opportunity to participate
in hospital-sponsored management education programs that fit within
their schedules.

Essentials of Nurse Manager Orientation
- is an online e-learning course developed exclusively for frontline nurse managers, charge nurses, aspiring

managers, and leadership staff. The program was conceived through a landmark partnership between the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) and the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and sets the standard for nurse manager orientation.

Harnessing the Learning Domain Framework - By tapping the accumulated wisdom and expertise of a distinguished panel of expert nurses, the Essentials of Nurse Manager Orientation course provides nurse managers with critical information needed to succeed in their everyday jobs, including lessons on business, finance, care quality, human resource management, and strategic and foundational thinking. The eight-module course also includes a unit on personal development and leadership.

All modules contain authoritative, practical, and accurate content ideally suited for nurses new to management as well as experienced managers seeking to fill knowledge gaps. The course, which offers 40* continuing nursing education hours awarded by AACN, is modeled on the Learning Domain Framework. This comprehensive approach to educating nurse managers was developed by the Nurse Manager Leadership Collaborative, an educational consortium that includes the AACN and AONE.
Components of the Learning Domain Framework Include:
  - The Science: Managing the Business
  - The Art: Leading and Managing People
  - The Leader Within

*The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

AACN has been approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the State Boards of Nursing of Alabama (#ABNP0062), Louisiana (#12) and California (#01036). AACN programming meets the standards for most other states requiring mandatory continuing education credit for relicensure.
